Imtiaz Ali reveals why his Laila Majnu is delayed

The upcoming Imtiaz Ali-Ekta Kapoor production Laila Majnu has created a lot of buzz already with its posters and teaser. The filmmakers had also announced that the trailer of the film would be released on Wednesday. However, in a statement, the filmmakers have announced that the release of the film will now be delayed.

Imtiaz Ali said in a statement, “It takes the whole village to raise a child! (African proverb). And it takes a big team to raise a film and bring it to the world. And while I’m excited to show you the trailer of Laila Majnu ASAP, the wait will be a slightly more. My friends in the distribution team urged me to look at releasing the film on the 7th of sept and I see their point that it would be better for Laila Majnu to be released on that date. I’ve been told the trailer comes out about 4-5 weeks before the film and not any earlier. So guys.. a little longer wait, we shall put the trailer out soon.. Thanks for the overwhelming response on the posters and videos of Laila Majnu, keep sending us your love ... love is worth the wait! Laila Majnu to release on 7th Sept.”

Laila Majnu is directed by Sadiq Ali and will star Tripti Dimri, Mir Sarwar and Avinash Tiwary, who will be making their debuts.

Ekta had earlier tweeted about collaborating with Imtiaz Ali and said, “Recreated. Re-imagined. Retold. Proud to collaborate with Imtiaz Ali to present a classic love story with a contemporary twist. Here’s the teaser poster of #LailaMajnu @balajimotionpic #ImtiazAlisLailaMajnu.”
