Embassy criticizes Wall Street Journal article saying the South Asian country is heading for a debt crisis

China defended its $62 billion infrastructure-building program in Pakistan, saying the initiative isn’t causing a debt crisis in the South Asian country.

A statement from the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, posted on its website late Monday, criticized a Wall Street Journal report that the embassy said “deviates from the facts” and took issue with critics it didn’t identify who say that the infrastructure program is becoming a debt trap.
