The Chhattisgarh Police with the help of Andhra Pradesh Police has arrested the person who posing as the ‘Naxal Commander Ganapati’ called up Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel. Caller had offered to support him in the upcoming Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh.

Special Director General of Police,(Naxal Operations), D.M. Awasthi while talking to The Pioneer confirmed the arrest of the person who called up Baghel.

Awasthi informed that no Maoist connection of so called caller was established and the arrested person was identified as one Bhaskar Rao of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. “As per preliminary enquiry, he was found to be an ordinary person, he said.”

Commenting on the arrest of the caller, State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Dharamlal Kaushik, in a statement had charged that the person who called up Baghel was a Congress worker. “It has brought to fore the falsehood of Congress party and Bhupesh Baghel, who should now apologize over the matter without any delay”, he said.

“The allegations of Baghel that BJP won the past elections with the support of Maoists were thus proved to be an irresponsible comment”, Kaushik added.

When sought clarification on Kaushik’s allegation, Special DG, Naxal Operations, on the other hand didn’t reveal that the person arrested was a Congress worker. “The truth will come to fore only after detail investigation into the matter”, he said.
