Jose Mourinho wants to sign Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos this summer according to reports in Spain.
The Manchester United boss is still intent on strengthening his midfield in the current transfer window and having already signed Brazil international Fred he now has ‘set his sights’ on the Germany international, according to the latest gossip.
Spanish outlet AS report United think their chances of signing Gareth Bale are receding, following Cristiano Ronaldo ’s departure to Juventus, and instead Mourinho is looking again at Kroos.
However, the report claims the La Liga giants have no interest in negotiating with United over the 28-year-old unless Kroos’ €500m release clause is triggered report the MEN .
In other, slightly more bizarre transfer news, The Sun claim Anthony Martial has dropped a huge hint he is staying at the club because he has pulled out of a short term lease on city centre flat.
Martial’s agent said he wanted to leave earlier in the summer and Mourinho is willing to let him go. However, the report claims the Frenchman is now set to stay because he has stayed in his current property with his girlfriend.
The report claims he and Melanie Da Cruz, who is due to give birth soon, had made a decision to move into a new home for three months while his future was sorted out.
But he has decided against that and will stay in his current home as he expects to still be a United player next season - apparently.
