Indrani Mukerjea’s son Mekhail Bora lost his temper in the court on Tuesday when it was scheduling dates for hearing his sister Sheena Bora’s murder case for coming week.

He said the hearing dates clash with his work commitment. “Being Indrani’s son will not get me a job,” Mekhail yelled in the court, addressing Indrani’s lawyers, who pleaded that they need time to cross-examine him next week

“After two years of struggle, I have managed to get a job. Now if I don’t resume I will lose this. Will you get me work then?” Mekhail thundered at the lawyers.

The court and prosecution calmed him down and promised that his deposition will not affect his job. The court said it would direct the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to pay for his travel and lodging expenses.

Mekhail was being examined for the second day by CBI prosecutors Kavita Patil and Bharat Badami. He told the court that Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamwar Rai allegedly hatched a plot to kill him in 2012. Besides facing charges in the Sheena Bora murder case, the three are also charged for attempting to murder Mekhail.

Mekhail told the court that in April 2012, Rai had tried to persuade him to loot Indrani’s house, but he refused to be part of the robbery.

Between April 17 and 18, 2012, Indrani asked him to come to Mumbai on April 24, 2012. Mekhail told the court that Indrani had asked him to stay at a house in Worli. Indrani came to the house at night and offered him a drink, which, according to Mekhail, was spiked. “I was used to having liquor. But on that day, I felt dizzy after just two pegs,” he told the court. Later, Khanna — who allegedly admitted Mekhail to a mental hospital in 2006 — and Rai reached the house with food. This made Mekhail suspicious of the trio, and he locked himself in the room. “As the sun rose, I fled to Guwahati,” Mekhail. According to him, Indrani was angry at him because he did not address her as ‘didi’ (elder sister).
