Vehemently denying any link between the I-T raids and AIADMK voting for the BJP during the no-confidence motion, Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai on Saturday asserted that his party had no alliance whatsoever with the saffron party.

Chennai:
What is the purpose of voting against the government when it is certain that it is not going to fall, he said while speaking to the media at the airport. “We will not compromise on the State’s rights. You can question us if the government is going to fall without our support. We will oppose the Union government at the right time and support it when required,” he added.
Thambidurai also spoke of the Andhra government killing Tamils on allegations of red sanders smuggling, asserting that supporting TDP’s no-confidence move would mean going against the Tamil sentiment.
He also said there is no need of bringing the government down since elections are just six months away. Similarly, the elected government in TN should be allowed to complete its full term, he said. He claimed that the AIADMK tried to bring such a motion against the BJP on the Cauvery issue, but the Congress did not support it at that time.
Thambidurai said NEET was introduced during the UPA government in which the DMK was a constituent. He also denied that a few MPs voted against the motion and said the party was united in Parliament.
