Dengue cases on the rise in Vasco

VASCO: The health authorities in Vasco have geared up to tackle vector-borne diseases following 11 students of Regina Mundi School testing positive for dengue at Chicalim.

More suspected cases of dengue have been reported in the areas of Bogda, Sada,  Dabolim, Zuarinagar, Zorint, Baina and Mangor-Hill in Vasco.

According to sources, the students, who tested positive for dengue are from the LKG, HKG, primary and secondary section.

“Health authorities from Vasco responded immediately following the outbreak of dengue in Regina Mundi School,” said former panch of Chicalim panchayat Francisco Nunes. He said that the health authorities have started fogging operations in the school premises and have also taken up other preventive measures to control the situation.

“Dengue cases in and around Regina Mundi School were on the rise due to the increase in construction activities,” said Nunes and added that he, along with the school management, brought the matter to the notice of the Chicalim panchayat authorities. The authorities immediately visited the construction sites accompanied by health officials in order to curb the menace of the viral fever.

Meanwhile, suspected cases of dengue have been reported in the areas of Bogda, Sada, Chicalim, Dabolim, Zuarinagar, Zorint, Baina, Mangor-Hill.
