NAMAKKAL: Four people, including three members of a family, died on the spot when two cars collided with each other near Tiruchengode in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as K Prabhakaran, 56, Karunkalpalayam in Erode, his wife Kavitha, 45, his son Aswanth, 20, and Albert John, 34, of Bengaluru.

Prabhakaran was a car mechanic and he owned a piece of land in Rasipuram in Namakkal district. The accident happened when Prabhakaran, his wife and son were returning to Erode after visiting their property in Rasipuram. Aswanth was driving the car.

When they neared Elachipalayam, a speeding car that came from the on the opposite direction --from Bengaluru -- hit their vehicle, killing the trio and Albert John. John was travelling in the car from Bengaluru.

Three others, who sustained injuries, were admitted to Tiruchengode Government Hospital.

The Elachipalayam police registered a case.
