The state government decided for adoption of `block chain’ technology to maintain digital records of land and transactions and plans to implement it within the next six months.
The technology could help bring a great deal of transparency to a system that has long been criticized as being at the risk of experts. Ifit comes through, UP will be the third state after Andhra Pradesh and Telengana to adopt the technology.
Chief Secretary Anoop Chandra Pandey said on Saturday that with the adoption of ‘block chain’ technology, revenue records will be available online to land owners  and it would enhance security of its digitised revenue / land records and make data  tamper-proof.
Pandey was reviewing progress of block chain technology being developed in association with IIT, Kanpur.
Block chain is relatively a new technology involving the creation of public ledgers of transactions which could replace multitude of overlapping records with a single and simple database. It is interesting to note that block chain technology is behind the bitcoin currency.
Pandey said that after implementation of block chain technology in Revenue department, it would be implemented in Stamp s and Registration department.
The top official directed nodal officer to prepare a draft of the government order for implementation of the technology and said that a copy be also made available to IIT-Kanpur.
Pandey also directed officers  to expedite works relating to  technical training, start up incubator, ‘One district, one product’ (ODOP), cottage industry and setting up of technical academy at Noida  for skill development.
He said that the total cost of technical academy is Rs 100 crore and Rs 60 corre will be released in two instalments and IIT-Kanpur is preparing a detailed project report (DPR) for the Noida academy and been asked to provide the report in the next fortnight.
Pandey asked representatives of IIT-Kanpur to provide suggestions  for further improving the start up policy to Information Technology department of UP government. He also directed IT department officers to seek technical assistance of renowned global institutions for developing Nano-technology Centre of Excellence at the proposed Defence Corridor in Bundelkhand region.
