Timeless steers to victory on a day of upsets

Pune: A fairly large crowd thronged the Pune Race Course for the start of what promises to be an enthralling season. The ambience was picturesque and the weather heavenly. 

The rains stayed away although the cloudy sky threatened to burst any moment. In such a scenario, the afternoon was chilly and most refreshingly enjoyable. 

Majority of the hundred plus horses that were saddled through the day looked in good shape and those who cornered glory won fluently.
SK Sunderji’s  Timeless was steered to a thumping victory in Gamble For Love Trophy, a six -furlong  for  Class I; H’cap, Horses rated 80 and upward. (60 to 79) eligible. It was a disastrous Friday for railbirds as most of the fancied runners failed to live up to their billing. 

Timeless did his bit till the last 250 metres and withered out tamely to finish post. Jockey CS Jodha brought Timeless with a flourish on the very wide outside to swoop on the front-runners and register a fine win from Brynhill late-finishing  Holy Smoke.
