Private school association protests against Fee Regulation Act

BHOPAL : Private school association (PSA) protested against state government’s Fee Regulation Act by burning an effigy of the act on Saturday. President of PSA Ajit Singh said that government is trying to impose inspector-raj through new rules.

He alleged that the government is trying to destroy the private schools in state. The new fee regulation Act says that hike should not be more than 10%, the proposal for the same should be submitted 150 days in advance to the collector.

Sinmgh claimed that this provision would leave school owners at the mercy of bureaucracy and open ways for exploitation. The association also opposed fee payment through banks.

Singh said that private schools in rural areas would face problems due to this provision as parents generally prefer cash payment.  He alleged that though the rules have been framed for private schools but they have not been consulted even once.  PSA demanded that the committees constituted by the government should have school owners and parents, being the key stakeholders, as its members for due deliberations over the issue. Association demanded that rules should also be framed for security of the school staff and sought a withdrawal of hike in various charges by the education board in MP.
