HYDERABAD: Though a conman, he was a man of ‘choice and taste’. Now placed under judicial remand for duping a city-based techie and a couple from Mahabubnagar, Talvinder Singh alias Amanweet Pal Sidhu targeted only women for his victims. He chose his victims carefully, based on their financial status, and ensured he never revealed his identity during interactions.

The 31-year-old, according to police, spent his loot on sex workers from Russia and Ukraine and often visited countries in South East Asia.

Though he would drug his victims with sedative-laced foods before duping them, police said, he did not harm any of the victims or sexually assaulted them.

Investigators have found out that he was extremely focussed on their jewellery and the cash deposits in their bank accounts. Singh was arrested by the Rachakonda police, for cheating a city-based techie and a couple from Mahabubnagar on the pretext of foreign jobs and cheated them.

Explaining the modus operandi further, police said that he would invite his victim to Delhi on the pretext of an interview, book a hotel room on her name, and ask the hotel to issue all bills on her name.

“He had also collected the identity proofs and photographs of the victims for visa processing and obtained new SIM cards through them, which he used for communicating to the next victims. None of them knew his original identity and they did not even bother to verify either,” he said.
