To spread awareness about people’s rights and privileges

To strengthen the party at the grass-root level and make people aware of their rights and privileges, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) and Youth Congress on Friday announced the launch of a ‘Jan Adhikar Abhiyan’.

The programme will be organised between August 4 and 11.

Two-phase training

DPCC president Ajay Maken announced that local leaders will be given training to strengthen the organisation.

“Local leaders at the block levels will be nominated for training. Congress leaders in the age group of 35 to 55, and Youth Congress leaders in the age group of 21 to 35 will be eligible for the training. All local leaders should submit their biodata to the DPCC office by July 27,” Mr. Maken added.

In the first phase of training, he said, Congress leaders will be educated on policies and programmes of the party in detail.

“Along with that, local leaders will be made aware of the rights and privileges of the poor. Welfare schemes of the government for the poor will be explained to the local leaders in a simple language,” he said.

Jan Adhikar Kendras

The second phase of ‘Jan Adhikar Abhiyan’ will begin on August 15, with opening of Jan Adhikar Kendras at jhuggi-jhopri clusters and resettlement colonies.

At these Jan Adhikar Kendras, trained local leaders will make the poor aware of their rights and privileges. This, he said, will help them derive maximum benefits from government schemes.
