A sixty-year-old woman died and 10 people were injured in a road accident on NH-16 stretch near Nakkapalle in the district on Friday. The accident occurred when an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling hit a lorry.
The deceased was identified as D Kasulamma, resident of Bangarammapalem area under S Rayavaram mandal. SI of Nakkapalle P Simhachalam said the auto-rickshaw with 10 passengers was heading towards the local shandy at Nakkapalle.
The driver of the auto lost control over the vehicle due to poor visibility due to heavy rain and hit the lorry from behind. Five of them injured suffered severe injuries in the accident and they were admitted to KG Hospital.
While undergoing treatment, Kasulamma died and the condition of the remaining injured people is said to be out of dander. The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
