More rains likely in State in next 48 hrs

The low pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a well-marked low pressure area which is likely to trigger heavy rainfall across the State during the next 48 hours.

“The low pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and Odisha coasts has become well-marked low pressure area and lies over the same region with associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during next 48 hours and move west northwestwards,” the Regional Office of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here said.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Subarnapur and Ganjam with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Subarnapur and heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over rest districts of Odisha, the IMD predicted.
