JAIPUR: Special teams of Jaipur police left for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata after they learnt that Thursday's robbery at a house in Sipra Path was a suspected handiwork of an inter-state gang.
The sources in Jaipur police said that the gang's getaway vehicle was last seen at a toll plaza near Meerut in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The police teams subsequently fanned out to chase suspects who had robbed the elderly couple with the help of the house maid. One team has also been sent to Kolkata to find details about the house maid Priya Sahoo alias Parveena.

The investigators suspect that robbers had travelled from different cities and arrived in Jaipur around 11pm on Wednesday. The elderly couple had told police that there were three persons who were let in by Priya, but the police suspect there could two more suspects who stood outside to guard the house.

Before robbers sneaked into the house at 2am, they had called Priya at 11pm to open the main door for them to come in.

"It could be that robbers arrived in two teams and parted ways after the robbery to give police a slip," an official said, adding it has to be confirmed if the robbers who fled in the stolen car carried booty with them.

Meanwhile, the victim, Krishna Kant Gupta (63) said that the placement agency trough which he had hired Priya Sahoo, lied to him about the maid's real identification.

'We always treated her as part of our family; she even sang bhajans inside the house. Now I think she was keeping an eye on us all the time," Gupta said. The Jaipur police said that they may book the agency and called them for the investigation.
