None of the other parties, including the Congress, addressed issues concerning Andhra Pradesh: Purandeswari

The BJP has slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his visit to New Delhi on Saturday with the sole aim to thank parties that supported the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP in the Parliament the previous day.

Addressing a press conference here, former Union Minister and BJP Mahila Morcha national in-charge D. Purandeswari questioned the need for Mr. Naidu to thank other parties, since none of them addressed issues concerning Andhra Pradesh during the debate on the motion. Not even the Congress, which was the largest Opposition party to support the motion, uttered a word about AP.

She reminded that the TDP was launched by N.T. Rama Rao in order to check the misrule of Congress in the State. With such a background, it was unbecoming of TDP to take the support of Congress.

Ms. Purandeswari said the motion itself was a hollow threat, vain attempt to portray BJP responsible for denying special category status to AP. But, it was the TDP which was exposed in the process.

The BJP official spokesman for AP Sudhish Rambhotla said the Centre was prepared to give anything more than the special status to AP but the State govt. did not cooperate. The govt. did not share any details about its developmental programmes; nor even the expenditure details of the ₹1.30 lakh crore loan borrowed.
