Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday visited three Mohalla Clinics sites that were reported “non-feasible” by officials and ordered reinspection of all such sites for approval.
Accompanied by Health Minister Satyendar Jain, Mr. Kejriwal inspected the sites for new Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics at Paschim Vihar and Saraswati Vihar, the government said in a statement. It also stated that the Chief Minister and the Health Minister visited three sites located at E Block in Saraswati Vihar and RBI Enclave, in addition to Block BG 6 in Paschim Vihar.
‘Space constraint’
In a feasibility report for setting up new Mohalla Clinics, a large number of sites were marked non-feasible by officials concerned due to “space constraints”, the statement said.
“Mr. Kejriwal was amazed when it was found that the three sites he visited on Friday had huge empty spaces, much more than what is required to build Mohalla Clinics,” it said.
“There is so much space here, where is the constraint?” Mr. Kejriwal said, alleging that it seemed there was something wrong with the inspection. “I have seen three sites today [on Friday]. All of them have space but the report submitted says there is no space,” the Chief Minister said.
He directed the Principal Secretary (Health) to reinspect such sites marked as “non feasible” and get them approved.
‘Instructions from L-G’
“It seems these officers were taking instructions from the Lieutenant-Governor on the inspection of new Mohalla Clinic sites. Genuine sites were rejected by them and this cannot be without a reason,” claimed a source at the Chief Minister’s Office.
