Row over parking at GH

more-in

A row broke out on Friday between a Coimbatore Medical College (CMC) bus driver and a 108 ambulance driver over parking of vehicles on the premises of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

CMC drivers, who bring medicos from Peelamedu to CMCH, wanted the EMRI 108 ambulances to be sent out immediately stating that there was no space to park their buses.

Buses were parked in such a manner that some of the ambulances could not be moved out.

This led to a wordy duel between a bus driver and an ambulance driver at CMCH on Friday.

CMCH Dean B. Ashokan told The Hindu that it was a minor issue and was resolved. Congestion near the old building meant for casualty led to this brief stand-off, he said.

V. Muthukrishnan, programme manager of Emergency Medical Research Institute (EMRI) that operated 108 ambulance services, said it was a minor ego problem between the bus drivers and ambulance drivers.
