Cong chief speech low on substance, high on entertainment: Sambit

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s speech in the Lok Sabha following which he hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said his speech was low on substance, high on entertainment.

Patra also said that the whole nation was waiting for an ‘earthquake’ to happen during Rahul’s speech but nothing happened. Commenting on the Congress president’s speech, Patra said, “It was low on substance and high on entertainment value. Since yesterday, the country was observing Rahul and wanted to hear his speech”.

“He (Rahul) had said last time that when he would speak, there would be an earthquake. We waited for 15 minutes, half-an-hour, one hour, but nothing transpired as there was no substance in the speech of Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

Union Minister Babul Supriyo also attacked the Gandhi scion over his speech and gesture in the Lower House, saying the latter should have respected his party’s traditions and history.  “Congress party has a tradition, a history. Even though they have done many wrongs, they should respect that (tradition and history),” he said.

Criticising Rahul for making bizarre allegations, Union Minister Smriti Irani said, “ We all have witnessed the lies propagated by Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha today. “He had absolutely no proof but only political negative rhetoric and that itself has cost him in every election that he has fought,” she said.

Criticising the Congress chief’s gesture, actor-turned-politician and BJP MP Kirron Kher said, “He can go to Bollywood...we have come from there but now he can go after fine-tuning his acting skills”.

“Rahul Gandhi should be ashamed, he can’t target our ministers without any proof. He was doing drama in the house and hugging Modi ji. I think his next step will be Bollywood. We will have to send him there,” Kher said.

Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar said Rahul’s speech lacked truth.
