Vadodara: At least 60 students of different villages of Bodeli taluka in Chhota Udepur district, who were stranded on Saturday morning, were rescued by district administration.
The students were stranded at Ranbhun village on the banks of Merai River, a tributary of Orsang River, as it was flowing above a causeway that connects the village with Patiya village. Locals said the students had come to Ranbhun village to attend school and were to return homes. But due to heavy rain, the water level of the river increased due to which the causeway could not be used.

The villagers then informed the district administration about the situation. “I sent talati and circle officer to check the situation. But when we learnt that the students were stranded, I asked them to use vehicles to drop them at their homes in respective villages,” said Sujal Mayatra, district collector.

He added that an alternative road connected Ranbhun with other villages.tnn
