Calangute police have taken cognisance about the complaint filed by the ex-sarpanch of Calangute Joseph Sequeira against government officers and contractors besides JICA officials for the alleged substandard road, drain and footpath work, negligence and endangering the life of the Calangute villagers.

Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi told ‘The Navhind Times’ that he has received a complaint, filed by the ex-sarpanch of Calangute Joseph Sequeira  over ‘bad roads, badly constructed drainage and footpaths’  against government officials and contractors.  In this regard, Dalvi said that he will be sending summons to all the officials concerned, and contractors over the ‘substandard work’ in Calangute.

He informed that the complainant has stated that roads and footpaths are badly constructed/maintained and this has resulted in potholes and cracks on the roads and footpaths.

“Footpaths are constructed by encroaching the road area, making the driving unsafe thereby endangering the life of pedestrians, it is mentioned in the complaint,” he said.

Even the covers of storm water drains, sewage chambers, and water pipeline manholes are damaged or missing thus posing danger to the life of pedestrians, he quoted the complainant as stating.
