Kerala Floods: Centre sanctions Rs 80 crore

The centre has sanctioned Rs. 80 crore to for the relief and rehabilitation of people in the flood affected areas of the state.

The central government team, headed by of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and on Saturday visited the flood-affected districts of Kottayam and Alappuzha.

"The government had sanctioned aid of Rs. 80 crore yesterday," the delegation told the reporters.

Continuous and heavy downpour has crippled the daily life in several districts of the southern state.

Rijiju informed that the central and state governments are eraching out to the flood victyims in the state.

"Our Central team along with State team is on the way by boats to visit Alappuzha, Komalapuram, Zero Jetty Gruel Centre, Kuppapuram flood relief camps to meet to people," tweeted Rijiju.

Incessant rains have continued to batter parts of the state since the end of May, the onset of annual monsoon season.
