Nagpur: ‘Yadein Rafi Live’, a programme based on the songs of legendary singer Mohd Rafi, organized by Vidarbha Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, took the audience down memory lane at Maheshwari Hall, on Friday.
Songs like ‘Tum jo mil gaye ho’, ‘Saare sheher mein’, ‘Chahe koi mujhe junglee kahe’, ‘Yaadon ki baraat’, ‘Teri bindiya re’, ‘Dekha hai teri aankho mein’ and many more were presented.

The audience cheered lustily when a singer presented ‘Badan pe sitaare’. ‘Parda hai parda’ also evoked enthusiastic response from those present. The singers of the music programme were Sanjay Joshi, Irfan Khan, Shoaib Khan, Vilas Dadge, Palak Arya, Nishita Joshi, Avinash Satpute and Narendra Balpande. The accompanying artistes were Ajit Bhalerao, Pankaj Yadav, Manohar Vishwakarma, Ankit Dahekar and Mahendra Matunkar.

Anand Bhagat, organizer of the event, said, “The fans of Rafi were in for a treat as we had lined up some of his famous and loved numbers. The audience had a gala time listening to the hits of the legendary singer. It is important to hold such programmes so that the young generation turns up in large numbers to listen to quality songs. The onus of taking forward the legacy of Rafi is now on the shoulders of the youth.”

The response was encouraging as such programmes give an opportunity to recall evergreen songs and relive that beautiful era of Indian cinema, Bhagat added.

Co-organizer Vijay Pandey said, “Our focus was to bring together fans of the legendary singer and entertain them. We aim to give people quality time so that they could come out of their mundane life.”

Rafi’s songs have the capacity to connect with people which no other singer enjoyed. He is an icon whose songs give a deeper meaning to life everybody could relate to. The lyrics of his songs have the power to forget worries and enjoy life, Pandey said.
