AMBALA: The
district police arrested two accused in separate cases and recovered
banned narcotic tablets from their possession. The police received a tip-off about the smugglers who were active in Ambala in
Haryana from past some time and after the planned setup of checking posts at Rangia Mandi, Ambala Cantonment and near Petrol Pump in Barara, the teams managed to arrest two accused. Nearly 4800 narcotic tablets have been recovered from the possession of both the accused.
Ambala superintendent of police Abhishek Jorwal said 'we had initiated a campaign against the drugs smuggling on June 20 for one month, and which was completed on July 20'. Jorwal added during the campaign the Ambala police have registered 21 cases under sections of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. For the further proceedings, we are investigating and working to know the exact sources of these banned contraband and our teams are working accordingly to nab the real culprits involved in drug dealings. Such campaigns will continue to come in force.
In one case, a team of Parao police station received information about a smuggler traveling with the contraband and the team set up a checking post near Rangia Mandi, Ambala Cantonment area. During the checking, the team stopped a person on suspicion and recovered 1560 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon and 170 tablets of Alfrasafe from his possession. The team arrested the accused and seized the contraband and he has been identified as Virender alias Bobby resident Rangia Mandi, Ambala Cantonment.
In another case, a team of Barara police station received information that a person is involved in dealing narcotics. Acting as per the information, the police team set up a checking post near Petrol Pump in Barara and started checking the vehicles. When the team was checking, the arrested accused after seeing the police tried to flee from the spot but he was captured by the police. While checking the accused, the team recovered a total of 3236 capsules (1536 Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, 1700 Parvon Spas Plus) of narcotic substance from his possession. The accused has been identified as Deepak resident Preet Nagar, Barara.
In both the above cases, the district police have registered separate cases under section 21 and 22 of NDPC Act at Parao and Barara police stations against both the accused.
In two other cases, the police have also arrested and recovered heroin and smack from the possession of two accused, who have also been booked under charges of NDPS Act.
