The police have arrested eight people for allegedly selling skin and horns of wild animals near Mahalakshmi Layout. They seized a leopard pelt, deer skin and six deer horns on Thursday.

Police were alerted by residents who became suspicious of the movements of the men who hail from Uttara Kannada district.

“We initially caught two of the men who led us to the others. They claimed that the pelts and horns belonged to a person named Prabhakar Naik, and that they worked on a commission basis,” said a police officer.

A case has been registered. The eight men were remanded in judicial custody.
