VIJAYAWADA: “I have not taken U-turn on special category status. In fact, you have taken the U-turn on the promise,” said AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in reply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allegation against him during the no-confidence motion.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Saturday, Chandrababu Naidu took strong exception to the Prime Minister’s comments against him in Lok Sabha the other day. While admitting that NDA had a total majority in the House to defeat the no-confidence motion, Chandrababu Naidu said that his intention was to question and expose the betrayal of
Narendra Modi to the people of
Andhra Pradesh.
“I have made several requests to you to fulfil the promises made to AP at Tirupati and Nellore during elections. He (Modi) had promised to give us a special category status. He had also promised to help us build a new capital that would be greater than New Delhi. But, in the last four years, he did nothing for AP,” Chandrababu Naidu said.
“We made every attempt to make him (Modi) realise his promises. We waited for four years. As nothing had happened, we pulled out of the government and finally served no-confidence notice,” the chief minister said adding that the BJP and Narendra Modi were indulging in conspiracy politics against him.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s statement that he fell into the trap of YSR Congress, Chandrababu Naidu said he would never do such a mistake. “When my party MPs were in Parliament I was in Amaravati and the YSR Congress chief was in the court. How can you say that I fell into the trap of that corrupt party,” he asked. He also took exception to the Prime Minister’s statement that he had some differences with
Telangana chief minister who showed maturity in resolving the disputes. “I am experienced and matured leader than many of the politicians today in the country,” Chandrababu Naidu said.
The AP chief minister thanked the political parties and the national media for supporting the TDP’s no-confidence motion against the government. He said his party MPs have successfully presented the injustice done by Narendra Modi to Andhra Pradesh. “The betrayal and injustice is exposed and people of this country are now aware of what Modi had done to AP,” the Chief Minister asserted.
