CM grieves demise of Dr Ramchandra Singhdeo

Chief Minister Raman Singh on Friday expressed profound grief over the death of former State Finance Minister Dr Ramchandra Singhdeo.

The Chief Minister reached the residence of legendary leader in the capital and paid floral tributes. He met family members of the departed leader and expressed his sympathies.

It may be mentioned here that Dr Singhdeo breathed his last in the wee hours of Friday at a private nursing home here.

The Chief Minister said that entire life of the former Finance Minister had been inspiring for its simplicity and austerity.

In a condolence message,  Singh mentioned that  Dr Ramchandra Singhdeo served the nation and the society for five long decades. The vacuum left by his death will never be fulfilled. His mission was to serve the masses, he said.

 The Chief Minister mentioned that the former Finance Minister's services will be remembered by the citizens of the State for several years to come. Dr Singhdeo had served in various capacities in the then undivided Madhya Pradesh and he has the distinction of being the first Finance Minister of the newly-created State of Chhattisgarh in the year 2000, he said.

Singh said that the late leader's ideals should be followed both in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. He was an expert on water resources and environment issues and was instrumental in building several irrigation projects in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Singh said.

Later, the mortal remains of Dr Singhdeo were also brought to Congress Bhawan on Friday afternoon.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Bhupesh Baghel and Former Union Minister Charandas Mahant were present along with other senior leaders of the party who paid their tributes to the departed leader.
