BJP youth held for misbehaving with woman cop

Police on Friday arrested a youth for allegedly misbehaving with a woman constable, who was on duty at Housing Board Square under the Kharavel Nagar police station in the city.

The incident occurred at around 9.30 am when the accused identified as Susant Kumar Nayak alias Tikina was caught while speeding away by his motorcycle. According to police, Tikina abused the woman constable, who intercepted him for not following the traffic rules while driving.

Sources said Tikina, a BJP worker, abused the on-duty constable in an inebriated state. Meanwhile, a PCR van rushed to the spot and took Tikina to the police station.

The accused was arrested on the basis of a written complaint filed by the woman constable and forwarded him to court, police sources said.
