Vadodara: Beheaded body of a man was found from an open plot near Tarsali on Friday evening.
Police could not identify the man as identity cards or mobile phone were not found on him. Cops said that the body must have been lying at the plot since past couple of days as it had started decomposing.
The body was found on Friday evening by a cattle-rearer, who later informed locals and police. When the police reached the spot they also found the man’s head at a distance on the same plot. “Looking at the body and face, it seems that the man must be aged around 35 years,” said a police official.
Investigators said that there is a possibility that the man might be stabbed first and then beheaded. “There are injury marks on the left side of his abdomen, but whether that led to his death or something else can be known only after the autopsy report arrives,” the police official said.
Cops are also verifying the missing persons’ list of recent past. Four teams have been formed to ascertain the identity of the deceased and find the killer, the police said.
They are relying on technical sources of call logs registered in the nearby mobile phone towers. “We are also going through the CCTV camera footages of entry and exit points of the city of last several days,” the police said.
