Youth kills self by jumping in front of Metro train; services disrupted for 30 minutes

A young man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train on Friday at the Jangpura Metro station, disrupting the services for nearly 30 minutes. The train was approaching the station and was headed towards Badarpur/Faridabad.

“A man allegedly jumped in front of an approaching train at Jangpura on Line-6 heading towards Badarpur around 1.56 pm (the body) being taken out from the train’s underframe. So, there will be a little delay on this section till the track is cleared,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said in a statement here.

The incident took place at around 1.56 pm, the man jumped on the tracks at the Jangpura metro station, disrupting services on the Central Secretariat-Faridabad section. The violet line of the Delhi Metro connects Kashmere Gate- Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad.

Also, Delhi Metro Police registered four cases of suicide in the metro premises within the last one month. However, the three persons who attempted suicide has been saved as the train operator put sudden brakes.

Further, the Nehru Place metro place has sent the body for autopsy. “The man came under the train as he jumped before the running train. We are working on to identify the deceased family for further information,” said a cop.

The Violet Line connects the Kashmere Gate station in New Delhi with Escorts Mujesar in Faridabad. Earlier this month a 50 year old and 21 year old civic services attempted suicide by jumping in front of the station.
