Actor Ajay Devgn is gearing up for his role as the unsung warrior Suberdar Taanaji Malusare in his next hit film ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior.’ Directed by Om Raut, the film has already caught the audience’s attention. Fans are curious to see the other stars yet to be cast and according to a DNA report Saif Ali Khan will be playing the antagonist.

Ajay Devgn last starred with Saif Ali Khan in 2006’s Omkara, which was director Vishal Bhardwaj’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Othello. It will be exciting for their fans to watch the pair together again.

The source at DNA said, “the Taanaji team believes that Saif will make for an interesting choice to play Udaybhan Rathod, the Rajput officer and fortkeeper appointed by Jai Singh, chief of the Moghul army under Aurangzeb. The film recounts the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670, which was fought between Tanaji Malusare, a commander in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army, and Udaybhan. The former sacrificed his life to recapture Sinhagad Fort from the Moghuls.”

Saif has recently been riding high on the success of his newly-released web series Sacred Games. The first Indian original Netflix series is an adaptation of the 2006 Vikram Chandra’s novel of the same name and also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte in leading roles.

Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior is a period drama revolving around Malusare, who took up his sword and shield to fight alongside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
