Bengaluru, Indian Men’s hockey team beat New Zealand 4-2 to register their first day win in the three-match Test Series, here at Bengaluru Campus on Thursday.
India’s Rupinder Pal Singh (2′, 34′), Mandeep Singh (15′) and Harmanpreet Singh (38′) scored for their team while Stephen Jenness (26′, 55′) scored for New Zealand.
Rupinder was fast as he scored a goal against the visitors in the 2nd minute, following his comeback into the squad after the Gold Coast 2018 XXI Commonwealth Games.
India doubled their lead to 2-0, when Manpreet Singh scored a brilliant goal in the 15th minute.However, in the 26th minute, New Zealand’s Stephen Jenness finally made a goal narrowing the lead to 1-2.
After the half time, India’s Rupinder scored another goal, taking India’s lead to a comfortable 3-1 in the 34th minute. After, four minutes SV Sunil post another goal reading 4-2 in the scoreline.
Nic Woods’powerful flick was well defended by Karkera as India won the first match 4-2.Indian Men’s Hockey team will play against New Zealand on July 21.
