Two flee with 15,000 Saudi riyals in Chowk

VARANASI: Two miscreants took away over 15000 Saudi Riyal of Rs 2.70 lakh value by diverting the attention of staff of currency exchange firm and escaped. The incident was reported from Chowk market on Thursday. Police are trying to trace the two after identifying the two youths with the help of CCTV footage.
A jewellery trader runs a firm GS Forex Limited for currency exchange in his shop in busy Chowk market. After few hours of opening the firms office its staff Shubham Mukherjee was busy in changing 15000 Saudi Riyal of Firoz Khan of Akbarpur. In the meantime, two motorcycle-borne youths reached there. One of them reached near Shubham while other stayed on motorcycle outside the shop.

On getting Rs 2.70 lakh in exchange of Riyal, Firoz left the shop. However, before Shubham could keep the Riyal safely the youth started a discussion on currencies like dollar to divert his mind. The Riyals were still on his table when he turned to answer him, Shubham turned back when he collected the Riyal and escaped the scene with his accomplice who was standing outside the shop.

Shubham raised an alarm and also reported the matter to police. On getting information CO Dashaswamedh Sneha Tiwari along with Chowk police reached there. SP City Dinesh Kumar Singh said that efforts are being made to identify the miscreants with the help of CCTV footage made available by the firm and neighbouring traders. He said that the case would be worked out very soon.
