Works worth ₹30,000 cr. in progress in the capital, says Minister

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana has said that the World Bank has promised the Chief Minister during his recent Singapore visit to extend loan for construction of capital Amaravati at the earliest and that the HUDCO and commercial banks are lending for the project.

Speaking to mediapersons along with Amaravati Development Corporation chairperson D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy during their inspection of the construction at Rayapudi on Thursday, Mr. Narayana said the project works had gained pace due to constant monitoring by the CM and pointed out that some capital city works in Naya Raipur and also Chandigarh were still going on.

Trunk road

He said a 320-km trunk road was being laid in Amaravati along with cycling and walking tracks and 4,840 residential quarters were being built for employees. The total value of works undertaken in Amaravati was approximately ₹48,000 crore and of them works costing ₹30,000 crore were in various stages.

Mr. Narayana said city civil courts were being constructed in two lakh square feet and expressed regret that the Central government claimed to have given ₹2,500 crore for the Amaravati project against ₹1,000 crore actually received so far. Designs for the Assembly building were in final stages, he added.
