Two youngsters, working as salesmen at a garment store in Koti, were arrested by the Sultan Bazaar police for cheating the shop owner by allegedly diverting the stock and selling them at a cheap price to a person in Bachupally.
The duo had for the past one year have diverted clothes worth ₹15 lakh since a year, in the absence of the store owner, Narayan Singh Rajpurohit, and sold them to Raju Ram, said East Zone DCP M Ramesh. He said that the accused, Manish Kumawat (20) and Bhupender Prajpath (22), native of Pali district in Rajasthan, also stole ₹5 lakh from the shop.
Police said that the store owner Rajpurohit was not visiting the shop regularly as he was depressed over his daughter's death. The cheating came to light when Mahesh, another salesman in the shop, informed the latter about the stock diversion.
Sultan Bazaar ACP M. Chetana said that the stolen property was recovered intact from the accused.
