Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asked MPs to reject the no-confidence motion against his government in the Lok Sabha.

“I urge all of you to reject this proposal,” the Prime Minister said in his reply to the day long debate in the lower house.

“If you were not prepared for the debate why did you bring the motion? Why were you trying to delay the motion?” PM Modi asked the Opposition.

“This is not the ruling government’s floor test, it is a floor test for Congress’s allies,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Modi was attacked by leaders of several opposition parties, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Telugu Desam Party’s Jayadev Galla, during the discussion over a number of issues.

The no-confidence motion against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government was brought by the TDP.

The government is expected to sail smoothly through the no-confidence motion, the first in 15 years, as numbers are heavily stacked against the opposition.
