Municipal Administration and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao directed the officials to prepare a strategy to improve air connectivity to different parts of the State.
There was scope for setting up airports at Mamunur in Warangal, Adilabad, Ramagundam, Kothagudem and Jakranpalli and the officials should conduct surveys in this direction to explore the possibilities of new airports in these areas, he said.
Mr. K.T. Rama Rao reviewed the proposals that were being examined for setting up new airports in different locations across Telangana with senior State Government officials on Thursday.
He wanted the officials concerned to seek cooperation of the AAI and other departments in preparing the designs and plans for setting up airports in these identified locations.
Efforts should also be made to identify locations suitable for introduction of sea planes, the concept that was gaining momentum at present.
Steps should be taken to link the tourist and pilgrimage centres across the State through air connectivity and the officials should study the offers that could be availed under the UDAN scheme of the Central Government.
The officials told the Minister 750 acres of government land was available at Mamunur.
