Nagpur: Chief Minister Devdendra Fadnavis on Friday, called on the legislative council members to resist from making personal allegations against each other and maintain decorum of the house.
He was making a statement on Thursday’s incident where BJP Member Suresh Dhas clashed with leader of opposition Dhananjay Munde and then with Congress MLC Kiran Pawaskar.

Not only it consumed precious time of the upper house, but also led to inordinate delay in clearing five key amendments in the legislations. The issue was raised by senior legislators — Sunil Tatkare and Sharad Ranpise.

Calling all the members to maintain decorum of the upper house, the CM said in democracy both benches — ruling and opposition — were equally important. He also advocated use of parliamentary language and set precedent for the new members.

“The members can flay policies of each other parties, but shouldn’t target an individual inside the house. This is not a place to show personal enmity, but to contribute constructively in running the government,” he said.

Due to Thursday’s altercation and heated arguments, the house was adjourned twice with other MLCs from treasury and opposition benches created uproar over remarks made by Dhas and Munde.

The BJP MLC in particular was not ready to listen to directives of chairman Ramraje Nimbalkar and continued to talk on the controversies surrounding Beed District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB), even as he was asked to speak on last week resolution involving farmers and other issues.

Even parliamentary affairs minister Girish Vyas tried to convince him, but he was still reluctant, forcing the chairman to issue him a last warning. It took three minister to pacify him later, but the house was adjourned till Friday, as it was already late.
