Stock market update: ONGC, IOC, BPCL crack 2%, drag oil & gas index down
Bajaj Auto, Vedanta and ONGC were in the deep red in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
NEW DELHI: Losses in HPCL (down 2.44 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) (down 2.05 per cent), ONGC (down 2.04 per cent) and BPCL (down 1.96 per cent) were weighing on oil & gas index during Friday's session.

The BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 0.44 per cent down at 14,423 around 12:20 pm.

However, Reliance Industries (up 1.85 per cent), Indraprastha Gas (up 1.43 per cent), Oil India (up 1.12 per cent), GAIL (India) (up 0.78 per cent) and Castrol India (up 0.26 per cent) were in the green around that time.

Market was in the positive territory amid buying in heavyweights including Infosys, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and Larsen & Toubro.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 208 points at 36,559, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 62 points at 11,019.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

In the Sensex index, 19 stocks were advancing, while 12 were declining.

Infosys, Larsen & Toubro and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

However, Bajaj Auto, Vedanta and ONGC were in the deep red in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
