India, US to discuss bilateral, regional, global issues during '2+2' talks

A broad range of bilateral, regional and global issues will be discussed during the '2+2' dialogue between and the US here on September 6, the said today.

"The 2+2 meeting will cover a broad range of bilateral, regional and global issues of shared interest, with a view to strengthening strategic and security ties between the two countries," MEA said, announcing the date for the talks.

Under the '2+2' format, and will hold talks with their US counterparts Pompeo and Mattis.

This new dialogue format was finalised during Narendra Modi's visit to on 26 June last year.

The dialogue was seen as a vehicle to elevate the strategic relationship between the two countries.

The two sides are expected to discuss ways to ramp up cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region where has been increasing its presence.
