Sisodia cites doctor’s allegation that Anshu Prakash is shielding corrupt bureaucrats

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) slammed Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash on Thursday, accusing the top bureaucrat of shielding the officials against whom several complaints of corruption are filed by a doctor of a Government hospital in the national Capital.

Prakash has been at the helm of the strained relations between the AAP Government and the babus of the Delhi Government following an attack on him at Kejriwal’s official residence in February.

The fresh spate of attacks on top “babu” comes after AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed his deputy, Manish Sisodia, to collect evidence from the doctor working at the Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital. The doctor has leveled allegations of corruption against the incumbent Chief Secretary Prakash and several of his predecessors.

Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh claimed the doctor filed 10 complaints with different officials, including Prakash, but no action was taken.

“The Chief Secretary should clarify why no action was taken against the corrupt officials, despite the complaints from the doctor. Not taking action against the corrupt is akin to siding with them,” said Sanjay Singh.

AAP spokesperson Dilip Pandey claimed an enquiry was ordered by the Vigilance department on one of the complaints of the doctor but no action was taken.

“The Vigilance department had ordered an enquiry, but no action was taken. Why did the Chief Secretary not ensure action on it?” asked Pandey. He said the AAP backed the doctor’s demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into the matter.

Against the backdrop of reports quoting the whistle-blower doctor, who has alleged that the Chief Secretaries took “bribes” from officials facing corruption charges for delaying enquiry against them, the CM has directed his deputy to look into the matter.

“Directed Manish Sisodia, Minister (Vigilance), to meet the complainant and get all evidence (sic),” the Chief Minister had said on Twitter.
