HSPCB imposes ban on setting up of new pyrolysis plants

Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has imposed prohibition on establishing new pyrolysis plants (for extraction of fuel oil from waste rubber tyres) in the State till the study regarding the local effects caused on health and environment by such plants is completed.

There are 82 such plants in various districts in Haryana including Jind, Bhiwani, Panchkula, Kaithal, Mahendergarh, Sonipat, Jhajjar, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Fathehabad, Hisar and Ambala.

“The decision of prohibition on these plants has been taken in the 180th meeting of the Pollution Control Board,” said an official spokesperson.

He said that the carbon particles emitted from these plants are very harmful to human respiratory system if proper control measures are not adopted by the plants.
