The has made it mandatory for every employed by agencies to undergo training at recognised institutes.

According to Rule 6 of the Agencies Rules, 2009, guards and supervisors employed by agencies have to undergo training as prescribed in the syllabus and guidelines in recognised training institutes, of Police, Law and Order, said here.

All the heads of district have been asked to ensure that all security guards and personal security officers (PSOs) deployed in their jurisdiction undergo training at recognised institutes, he said.

The district heads should also maintain a complete record of guards and supervisors who have undergone training, including weapon training, with a view to create a database which can be used at the time of a emergency or rumour mongering in the state, the ADGP said in an official statement.

This database will be updated on a quarterly basis, he added.

The competent authority has granted licences to institutes and also set up training institutes, a list of which is available on the Police website, Akil said.

The ADGP said at the time of applying for licences, private security agencies sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with recognised institutes for training of prospective security guards and supervisors.

However, it has come to the police's notice that some of these agencies do not make their guards and supervisors undergo the training. Hence the district police heads have been asked to prepare the database and submit a compliance report by August 31, he said.
