NAGPUR: Chief minister Devdenra Fadnavis on Friday called on the legislative council members to resist from making personal allegations against each other and maintain decorum of the prestigious house.

He was making a statement on Thursday’s incident where BJP Member Suresh Dhas clashed with leader of opposition Dhananjay Munde and then with Congress MLC Kiran Pawaskar.

Not only it consumed precious time of the upper house, but also led to inordinate delay in clearing five key amendments in the legislations. The issue was raised by senior legislators – Sunil Tatkare and Sharad Ranpise.

Calling all the members to maintain decorum of the upper house, the CM said in democracy both benches – ruling and opposition -- were equally important. He also advocated use of parliamentary language and set precedent for the new members.

“The members can flay policies of each other parties, but shouldn’t target an individual inside the house. This is not a place to show personal enmity, but to contribute constructively in running the government,” he said.
