Reliance Jio announces new Rs 99 plan; unlimited calls, 500MB data per day and more

The most recent entrant in the Indian telecom market Reliance Jio has today launched a new plan for JioPhone users in the country. Priced at Rs 99, this plan offers daily data and calling benefits just like the other Reliance Jio users.

As part of this plan, Reliance Jio is offering benefits such as free unlimited calls, 500MB per day high-speed data and 300 SMS, all valid for a period of 28 days.

Commenting on the launch of this plan, a Reliance Jio spokesperson said, "We realized that there are some users who may want lesser data and therefore must get the plan at a lower price. This will reduce the monthly spends straight away by nearly 50%."

This new plan was launched alongside the Monsoon Hungama exchange offer.

There are two more plans for the Jio Phone users. Priced at Rs 49 and Rs 153, both plans come with a validity of 28 days. While the former offers 1GB of total data and 50 free SMS, the latter plan offers 1.5GB per day data (42GB in total) as well has 100 SMS per day. Both plans come with free subscription to Jio apps and unlimited calls to both national and local numbers.

Readers must note that the Rs 99 plan is still not reflecting on the official Jio website but was announced in the press statement issued by the company.

Jio Monsoon Hungama exchange offer
As part of the Monsoon Hungama offer, Jio says that under the Monsoon Hungama exchange offer users can buy the Jio Phone at Rs 501 effectively. Users will get this amount back after three years, which will then make the Jio Phone free of cost. It has been mentioned that those interested in this offer can avail it at the retail point by simply exchanging on any old 2G/3G or 4G (non-VoLTE) phone. The old handset, however, should be in a working condition. It should be handed over to the person at the retail store at the time of exchange.
