NEW DELHI:Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia lashed out at the BJP for working through “backdoor” to hinder the AAP government’s work.“It is very clear that they (officers) have instructions from the Centre and the PMO to stall the projects of public welfare in Delhi. By doing this through the IAS officials, the Centre is not only killing the democratic and federal structure of the country, but is also defying and disregarding the orders of the apex court,” Sisodia told a press conference on Wednesday. “The officers are refusing to comply with the directions of the (Delhi) Cabinet. Several important decisions are being defied.”
The Supreme Court, in its July 4 order, ruled that the Delhi Lieutenant Governor has powers just on three reserved subjects — police, land and public order. But the tussle broke out between the AAP government and Lt. Governor Anil Baijal within two days on the issue of executive powers regarding the posting of officers.
“The BJP through officers is conspiring to stall the work that we are trying to do. I warn them that they should not take the government lightly. They should not take the people of Delhi so lightly. All this stalling of our Cabinet decisions cannot happen without the interference from the central government,” Sisodia added.
He claimed the transport commission refused to obey the Delhi government’s decision to challenge a High Court order on procurement of 2,000 buses in the Supreme Court, while the food commissioner had “obstructed” the decision for doorstep delivery of rations.
Meanwhile, the revenue department has decided to increase the periphery of Lal Dora to accommodate the growing population in the rural belt on the outskirts of Delhi. The department has to submit a report on the plan within two weeks,. On Wednesday, the Delhi government reviewed the progress on the ban implemented on sale, production and storage of ‘Chinese Manja’. The ban is enforced looking at the rise in injuries to both birds and humans due to the glass powder coated thread used for flying kites.
