'Tokyo' is theme for Luton Charity Ball - and Matt will be there

Musical star and The Voice finalist Matt Hetherington will be flying in from LA to MC the 16th Luton Charity Ball at the AIS Arena on August 4.

The ball will be supporting Hartley Lifecare, Project Independence and Karyina House.

Richard Luton, owner of Luton Properties, was proud to have Hetherington on board, also as the night's main entertainer.

The actor and singer was a finalist on The Voice in 2012, has appeared in multiple musical theatre productions in Australia and won the prestigious Helpmann Award for lead actor in a musical for his role in The Full Monty.

Hetherington is now based in Los Angeles where has appeared in the TV series The Detour.

"We are thrilled that Matt will also be performing as he is being tipped to be the next big thing to come out of Australia,'' Luton said.

"His extraordinary voice and vitality on stage has earned him exceptional reviews both from his live band appearances and his numerous award winning theatrical performances.''

The theme for the ball this year is Tokyo.

It will be held at the AIS Arena on Saturday, August 4 from 6.30pm.

The dress code is "black tie or neon''.

Adding to the theme will be a karaoke competition, sake bar and Japanese taiko drummers.

Luton said the ball was the company's way of giving back to the community, with the event organised in-house to maximise fundraising for the charities.
