Congress leader and former Minister Sake Sailajanath met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday.
The meeting raised eyebrows in political circles in the State. He, however, brushed aside the speculation on the meeting. “I am a Congressman, and will contest election in 2019 on Congress ticket,” he asserted.
Going further, he asked, “What’s wrong if I meet the Chief Minister?” Explaining the reasons behind the meeting, Mr. Sailajanath said the bills relating to his pension and medical expenses were rejected. The issue was brought to the notice of the CM and Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, he said.
The former Minister said that he discussed about irrigation projects in the State. The NTR Vaidya Seva scheme was not being implemented in hospitals located in Hyderabad. The problem was brought to the Chief Minister’s notice, he said.
The former Congress MLA from the Singanamala constituency played a major role in the formation of the Jai Samaikyandhra Party (JSP) by former Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Later, there was speculation he would join the TDP like some other Congress party leaders. But, TDP MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy reportedly opposed his entry. Mr. Sailajanath served as Primary Education Minister in combined Andhra Pradesh.
