LUCKNOW: The Congress
Sewa Dal will soon have a youth brigade with an all new look. The 93-year old part of the
Congress which has assumed a frontal role under the leadership of
Rahul Gandhi is recruiting tech savvy youth. Soon,
CSD will also launch an app to attract enthusiastic youth.
The younger wing of CSD will don a youthful look as they will get a new uniform with white tops and blue denims. The Gandhi topi will be replaced with white sports cap.
“Recruitment of young members is underway,” said
Lalji Desai, social activist and chief organiser of CSD who was in the city to hold a meeting of the executive body and formalise the strategy for 2019 lok sabha elections.
When asked about the recruitment of young members, Desai said, “Congress has always been the meeting point for experienced elders and enthusiastic youth. Sewa Dal wanted to reflect the same especially in a country which is riding the demographic dividend wave at the moment.”
“The ruling BJP and RSS were confusing the youth while deviating them from basic quality of life issues. Seeds of extreme nationalism (read fundamentalism) have been sown (by BJP-RSS) in youth’s minds.,” he added. Sewa dal would ensure, he explained, that youth does not get incited by shrewd politicians. “Majority of youth today are present on social media platforms. The youth brigade of Sewa dal would counter BJPRSS propaganda on virtual media which plays a crucial role in creating perception,” said a senior member.
UP Sewa Dal chief Pramod Pandey said that a number of activities have been planned for the youth. “The present day Indian is a young person who is suffering the most at the hands of Modi's myopic vision. The young Sewa dal members would raise the Tricolour against BJP RSS in Tiranga Yatras, take out prabhat pheris and undertake socially relevant tasks such as plantation,” he said.
